What's in our wax!?

When candles are burned, paraffin releases a group of chemicals with the acronym BTEX into the air. BTEX stands for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. Together, these chemicals are carcinogenic and can cause nervous system damage, reproductive harm, and more. Candles from brands like Yankee Candles or Bath & Body works are a big source of indoor pollution. These companies use Paraffin wax which are derived from fossil fuels. 

Our goal has been to create the cleanest eco-friendly candles that are 100%  non-toxic. 

All of our waxes are made from renewable resources and plants. We developed a wax formula that is completely made from renewable resources, vegan, and burns longer. 

Here is a breakdown of our wax ingredients:

Coconut Apricot wax: is created from coconut oil and oil extracted from apricot kernels. It provides the purest and cleanest burn for your environment. A lot of our initial candles were made with Coconut Apricot wax only, and we realized that the wax had the cleanest burn, creamiest white texture, minimal soot, and no tunneling! However, the wax burned through quickly because it was so creamy. 

Therefore we added Coconut Soy. 

Coconut Soy wax: is also natural, non-toxic, biodegradable, and renewable sustainable resource. It solidifies to be more dense than coconut apricot, hence burns longer and slower. It was important to mix Coconut Soy with Coconut Apricot in order to prevent tunneling. A candle with only Coconut Soy wax will most likely result in candle tunneling and wax waste because of how hard the wax is, it will only burn through the middle if the correct sized wick is not used.

We use the most natural, therapeutic grade essential oils and phthalate free fragrances. In order to keep it fresh, we added Vegan Stearic Acid. 

Vegan Stearic Acid: Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid with an 18-carbon chain that occurs naturally in animal and plant fats. We decided to add Stearic Acid into our wax in order to keep the essential oils and non-toxic fragrances fresh and last longer. It also keep the wax creamy but also burn longer. Many candle brands use stearic acid derived from animals. However, it is important for us to think about our planet, and stay true to our identity as a vegan brand. Therefore we use vegan stearic acid derived from plant fat.

Your responsibility is to make sure to trim your wicks after every burn in order to prevent black soot, and let the candle last even longer.
